The "Geez" is a "recovering lawyer" who has spent over two decades working and teaching in the investment business. He began investing in securities when he was 12 years old.

He went to work for Dean Witter in 1982 in California, where he won the President’s Merit Award his first year, and taught Securities Analysis at a nearby college. As a stockbroker, he was trusted enough by his former lawyer friends, that he served for two years as Chairman of Estate Planning Section of the local County Bar Association. Fellow lawyers felt comfortable referring prospects to him. One lawyer even sent over his mother.

In the 1990’s the Geez managed millions of dollars of other people’s money as a portfolio manager for Santa Barbara Bank and Trust, and as a Registered Investment Advisor. The Geez concluded his licensed financial services career as the Director of Training for Financial Network Investment Corp. (an independent channel firm now owned by ING) where he helped develop and deliver financial education workshops for 401K participants. He also wrote a quarterly financial column for the American Bar Association Journal, and ruled on securities disputes as an NASD arbitrator.

Today, as Principal of Investor Education Services, the Geez offers continuing education workshops on for CPAs and Lawyers around the country. He has facilitated classes on investing (and been invited back) to New York, California, Michigan, Ohio, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Montana, Wyoming, Indiana, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Connecticut.

The Geez holds a BA degree in Philosophy from Penn State, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. He earned a Certified Financial Planner, CFP(R), designation in 1991 from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, and became a Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC) in 2000. He is also possessed by a lifetime teaching credential from the California Community Colleges.

The Geez combines an affluent upbringing, strong financial experience, with a broad view of financial literacy. He lived overseas for four and a half years in Europe and Japan teaching, writing and skiing back in the late 1970’s.

He does not currently hold securities licenses or have any interest in selling you stocks, bonds or hedge funds. He sells only investor education, and as an organizer and one of the collected voices of www.GeezerBoomer.com, does plan on making this blog a paying proposition somewhere along the road.
